What is Steller?
Steller is based on Joomla, an open-source content management system. It is one of the most well known systems and is rated as best (five stars) out of 100s of competitors by opensourcecms.com. The system has been around for a long time and hundreds of thousands (if not millions) or people use it. Since it is so well known and has so many contributors, there is a huge amount of support and extra components that have been developed for it.
Whats the difference?
Steller is our premium branded version that represents our upgrades, installation, customization, training and support thereof. We've made a number of optimizations to the product itself that enable it to be used more feasably in a business environment. Many of those optimizations center around the practice of editing content. The editor in Steller is extremely robust. Our goal with Steller is to enable managers to do anything they want with content without having to know or edit code. There is an easy user interface or button for almost everything.
Setup
Unfortunately, there is no official training or certification for Joomla. We've been working with the platform for years so we know what it can do and more important, what it can do for you. There are actually 100s different ways you can set it up. We'll work to understand your goals and mold those with functional and design requirements. We will structure the site in a way that makes it flexible for you - so that you will be able to manage every aspect of your site to the maximum extent.
Much of our analysis and assistance to you will also revolve around components. Components let you "plug in" added functionality to your website. Examples of components are calendars, photo galleries, and online forms. There are litterally thousands of components in the market place. We have reviewed many of them and offer a limited sub-set thereof. Components that we do use have to pass certain standards of security and integration with the rest of your website. We want to ensure that all parts of your site function seamlessly both from a user and a manager perspective.
Training
We'll train you how to use the management system to it's fullest potential. The training is on-screen and interactive. We include workflows that help you establish a content maintenance plan for your company. We also include usability tutoring, giving you pointers on how you can create and maintain a site that is user friendly, and easy to navigate. If included in your project, we will help you understand how sub-page designs are put together and how you can recreate and format those pages in other parts of the site.
Support
You'll have access to our knowledge base and professionals to answer any specific questions you may have. Each installation includes a couple of hours just for you. We'll address any areas where things need to be smoothed out or explained further and hold your hand for the first couple of months while you get going. We have extended support plans available where we will actually work with you for 6-12 months helping you publish content and get your site built out until you are comfortable managing it yourself.
