WinWorld is very proud to be a selected development parter for James Madison University. WinWorld has been developing websites in the Shenandoah Valley for almost a decade. We were formly known as 'Extreme Exposure Media' and changed our name in April, 2009. WinWorld became a JMU development partner in early 2009, being selected as one of the awardees for RFP M-386. For more details about capabilities pertaining to JMU, read our 42 page brochure that we submitted as our proposal.

Our Services

Our main purpose in being a web development partner for JMU is to support colleges and departments in redesigning their web pages. We help by making sure the overall design looks polished and professional, while staying within JMU Marketing's identity standards for college websites. We also work with colleges and departments on helping them restructure content so is user friendly and easy to navigate.

Samples

Design services - We will work with you to establish a new look or design for your college or department website. We facilitate the process by providing you with an information gathering worksheet that helps assemble all of the design requirements for your website's new look. We then present you with a series of proofs, working through revisions until you are happy with the design. We've already been briefed on University Marketing's branding and identity requirements for JMU, so we'll make sure your design complies with those also. A large part of the design process is also helping you with the layout, structure and navigation of your website. We will consult with you to help you organize your content and present it in the most user-friendly way to your audience. To assess our design capabilities, please feel free to look at some of our past work.

Development services - Once your new design is nailed-down, we will do the work of building-it-out in an HTML template that can be used with Web Manager 2 or the new Cascade Server system. Our coding always produces XHTML 1.0 compliant work that can be viewed in all major browsers. Once we've completed your template, we will work with University IT to install it in a testing area so that your site navigation and content pages can be setup.

Information Architecture - Once you're site is ready to be filled with pages and content, we can help you to organize it and implement it in Web Manger 2. We've been working with the the web and usability for more than a decade, so we'll help you figure-out the most user-friendly way to present your content. We'll also help pretty-it-up.

Right Now Web Support™ - Whether you did your site with us or not, if you need help and you need it right now, with anything web related, call or email us and we'll help you for $85.00/hr. Sometimes HTML can be tricky and it can take a lot of effort to get it looking right. That's what we're here for. Instead of spending a lot of your valuable time, just contact us and have one of our trained technicians work on your project. If you're actually interested in learning more about HTML we're certainly open to helping explain some of the nuances!

How to get started

There is a specific process you need to follow in order to work with us. Please see the steps we've outlined below:

  • You first need to complete a Project Inquiry Form.
  • IT and Marketing will review the PIQ submission and notify you if this is something we can do for you.
  • At this point, go ahead and request a quote for the work you're wanting done.
  • We will discuss the needs with you, providing a rough level of effort, then create a Statement of Work.
  • We'll clear the SOW with JMU IT and University Marketing then send it on to you.
  • To start your project, place a purchase order on EVa, citing vendor contract UCPJMU3674.
(TIP: On EVa, you will find us most quickly by searching for us with our EIN Number - 27-1334538).

Isn't JMU moving to a new web system?

JMU is currently in the process of implementing a new web content management system called Cascade Server. Ultimately, nearly all campus web properties will migrate to the new system to take advantage of better search engine results; easier and more consistent navigational schemes; system wide meta tagging; consistency across the JMU web for content including curricula, faculty & staff directories, event information, emergency notifications etc.; optimized use of web resources; and others.

Having Winworld assist you by organizing and upgrading the content on your site could help to smooth your site's transition to Cascade.  While unique, site-level graphic designs will not make the transition to Cascade, Winworld can provide a transitional design based on JMU's Cascade templates as a stop-gap measure prior to your site's transition to Cascade.
