Home How We Work

How our development process works

Here are a few points about how we work. This will give you some idea of how the development process will go once you engage us.

  1. Scope: The first thing to do is figure out the scope of the project. Scope is most often governed first by price and then by your requirements. We've tried to make pricing as easy as possible for you to research what you can and cannot do.
  2. Purchase: Once you've figured out what you want to buy, you make your purchase. Unless it's part of an ongoing contract, we generally do not do any work on a project before a payment has been made. Our sales team can work with you to answer any questions you have. Payment terms for projects over $1,000 are 50% down and 50% at completion. You can pay by credit card or eCheck. When you pay online by credit card, your card will be authorized for the whole amount but we will only manually collect the 50% downpayment when we begin your project.
  3. Planning: If your project includes design, we will give you a link to fill out a design requirements form online. The form contains questions about color, branding, mission, audience, overall message, etc. We make the form as brief as possible, but extensive enough for our designers to develop the look you're after. If your project does not contain design, the specifications are usually contained in the order itself.
  4. Proof: If you're project contains design, we will send flat graphic representations of the project back and forth with you, making adjustments as you deem neccessary.
  5. Buildout: We will build-out all of the products you have purchased online. When we're finished building-out, you will be able to see and access your new site on the web.
  6. Completion: When our work is complete, we will invoice you for the final portion of your invoice.
  7. Training: If your project contains training, we'll give you one-on-one training over the phone. We'll use a screen-sharing tool such as "WebEx" so that you will be able to follow along, visually, as we explain the new system to you.
  8. Content insertion: If your project includes a content management system, by default, you will be given all the time you need to enter the content into the site yourself before it is launched. It will be up to you to let us know when you are ready to launch the new site. If we are plugging-in the content for you, we will do so and collaborate with you until it is complete. Prior to launch, you will access your website on a "development server" that is not used for public use. Your access address will be something like "dev.yoursite.com"
  9. Launch: We will launch your new website at the designated time.
  10. Support: We will work with you according to the terms of our service agreement, providing you with support following the site launch. This includes supplemental training and/or adjustments as needed.
