New Web Design for the College of Science and Mathematics

We were privelidged recently to work with the Colledge of Science and Mathematics at James Madison University. Below is a snapshot of their old site vs. the new:

The website is based on JMU's Web Manager 2 system - a content management system with TinyMCE. The actual layout provided by the HTML template format is fairly straight forward, a header and a 3 column body. We were able to really break out of a standard "box frame" look however by building in curves and overlapping elements.
This design was the most challenging we have done due to the fader in the upper right. It runs with a Yahoo AJAX JavaScript class. It has a PNG overlay mask as well as a clickable link for each slide. The slides are simply loaded into the HTML of the front page and the JavaScript takes care of all of fading and animation.
This college really wanted to freshen it's appearance to students and we were happy to be given the liberty to produce a dynamic design for them.
