WinWorld recently completed a design upgrade for James Madison University's Department of Biology. Here's a snapshot of the old vs. the new look (click to enlarge):

The new design run's on the upgraded version of JMU's Web Manager 2. Web Manager 2 is mainly centered around the TinyMCE Editor.
The actual HTML layout allowed by the system is fairly simiar to the old layout - a basic header and "L-frame" with a 2 column or 3 column look. Although you can see this layout model in the new design, we've taken great strides to introduce curves and "breakout elements" to ensure the design does not look "boxy." We're happy with the dynamic designs we've been able to accomplish in the WM2 system.
We implemented a YUI Next/Previous fader in the front page content so that more news stories could be fit onto the front page. Users can flip through news and images without having to reload the page. This is thanks to AJAX.
JMU has been incredibly helpful in helping us learn the template format of their system. We will have many more JMU launches to share in the coming weeks.
